| Abstract: | Structural control of avalanches causes redistribution of snow and, therefore, local disturbances to heat balance at ground/snow interface. Attempt was made to evaluate influence of snow cover on ground temperature and to determine permafrost-specific characteristics of snow-cover processes. Snow and soil temperatures were measured at 90 snow-pit sites at this location. Thermal resistance of and heat flux through winter snow cover are calculated at two sites with and two without permafrost, and it was found that snow metamorphism differs at these sites. |
