Le isole perdute e le isole ritrovate. Cristoforo Colombo, Tile e Frislanda. Un problema nella storia dell'esplorazione nordatlantica / Luigi G. de Anna.

Title: Le isole perdute e le isole ritrovate. Cristoforo Colombo, Tile e Frislanda. Un problema nella storia dell'esplorazione nordatlantica / Luigi G. de Anna.
Translated title: The lost islands and the rediscovered islands. Christopher Columbus, Thule and Frisland. A problem in the history of North Atlantic exploration.
Author(s): Anna, Luigi G. de.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Turku, Finland: University of Turku
Language: Italian.
Abstract: Book deals with possible voyage undertaken by Columbus from Bristol to what he calls Thule in 1477, trip first mentioned in letter from him to King and Queen of Spain in 1495, which appears in biography compiled by his son Fernando in years before 1537. It concludes that Columbus never reached Iceland, that his "Tile" is possibly one of Shetlands and that "Frisland", which appeared in various atlases of 16th Cent. in Atlantic south of Greenland, did not exist, or was itself one of Shetlands. His son wanted perhaps to give lustre to his father by identifying his Thule with Frisland.
