Record #125676:

On the relevance of linear elastic fracture mechanics to ice / Khaled Abdel-Tawab, Gregory J. Rodin.

Title: On the relevance of linear elastic fracture mechanics to ice / Khaled Abdel-Tawab, Gregory J. Rodin.
Author(s): Abdel-Tawab, Khaled.
Rodin, Gregory J.
Date: [1993]
Publisher: Edmonton, Alberta: University of Alberta, Department of Civil Engineering
In: IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol.3.
Abstract: Proposes new criterion which permits estimation of minimum size for brittle polycrystalline fracture specimen composed of small number of grains. According to this criterion, linear elastic fracture mechanics is useful theory for fresh-water ice but limited for saline ice.
Notes:

In: IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. Vol.3. / International Association for Hydraulic Research.

Keywords: 551.32 -- Glaciology.
551.322 -- Ice and snow.
551.326 -- Floating ice.
539.42 -- Ice, tensile strength.
