Abstract: Study carried out during 1988-89 field season to determination stagnation chronology for this ice stream from burial depths of crevasses along shear margin. Five radar profiles were run. Stagnation ages are calculated as 130±25 years for three profiles furthest downstream and slightly less for fourth. Profile furthest upstream show stagnation age of only about 30 years. Suggests that these results indicate wave of stagnation propagating at diminishing speed upstream from mouth of ice stream, and suggests that stagnation process involves drop in water pressure at bed due to conversion from sheet flow to channelized water flow.
