Record #125516:

Unfrozen, high-salinity intervals within ice-bearing permafrost, North Slope of Alaska / Timothy S. Collett, Kenneth J. Bird.

Title: Unfrozen, high-salinity intervals within ice-bearing permafrost, North Slope of Alaska / Timothy S. Collett, Kenneth J. Bird.
Author(s): Collett, Timothy S.
Bird, Kenneth J.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Wushan, Guangzhou: South China University of Technology Press
In: Permafrost. Sixth International Conference. Proceedings (Vol. 1), July 5-9, 1993, Beijing China. (1993.),
Abstract: Well logs from this area show that ice-bearing permafrost interval is not vertically continuous, but is interrupted by numerous intervals in which ice content is diminished or absent. This interval usually occurs within 50 to 250 m of surface, is laterally continuous over about 1000 km², and ranges in thickness from 15 to 100 m. Documents occurrence and assesses physical and chemical parameters controlling distribution.
