Evidence for a connection between dynamic behavior of the Laurentide ice sheet and mountain glaciation in western North America / Fred M. Phillips, Marek G. Zreda, David Elmore, Pankaj Sharma.
Title: | Evidence for a connection between dynamic behavior of the Laurentide ice sheet and mountain glaciation in western North America / Fred M. Phillips, Marek G. Zreda, David Elmore, Pankaj Sharma. |
Author(s): | Phillips, Fred M. Zreda, Marek G. Elmore, David. Sharma, Pankaj. |
Date: | 1993. |
In: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1993.), Vol. 74(43, supplement) (1993) |
Abstract: | Abstract. Presents and discusses results of investigations of glacial chronology at five sites in western USA, which show apparently synchronous glacial episodes. Younger glacial advances appear to correspond with Younger Dryas event and Heinrich events 1 to 6. If chronology is correct, long-range connection between behavior of Laurentide ice sheet (source of Heinrich icebergs) and climatic conditions in western North America is indicated. |
Notes: | Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. Vol. 74(43, supplement) :360 (1993). |
