Snow removal and de-icing using long flexible heat pipes / M. Shiraishi, M. Mochizuki, S. Sugihara, Y. Yamagishi, F. Watanabe.

Title: Snow removal and de-icing using long flexible heat pipes / M. Shiraishi, M. Mochizuki, S. Sugihara, Y. Yamagishi, F. Watanabe.
Author(s): Shiraishi, M.
Mochizuki, M.
Sugihara, S.
Yamagishi, Y.
Watanabe, F.
Date: 1993.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1993.), Vol. 18 (1993)
Abstract: Summary only. Describes some applications of this technique, in which flexible corrugated pipe is buried in ground and uses geothermal heat to keep structures such as telegraph poles or poles for power lines free from snow damage. Operates successfully at temperatures above 6°C, but, in cases of heavy snowfall, requires auxiliary electric heater, which is attached to lower part of heat pipe.
Notes:
