Record #125429:

Some numerical experiments on firn ventilation with heat transfer / M.R. Albert.

Title: Some numerical experiments on firn ventilation with heat transfer / M.R. Albert.
Author(s): Albert, M. R.
Date: 1993.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1993.), Vol. 18 (1993)
Abstract: Preliminary estimates of thermal signature of ventilation in polar firn were obtained from two-dimensional numerical calculations. Simulations show that spatially varying surface pressure can induce airflow velocities of 10⁻⁵ m s⁻¹ at 1.5 m depth in uniform firn and higher velocities closer to surface.
Notes:

Annals of Glaciology. Vol. 18 :161-165 (1993).

551.578.463 -- Snow cover, firnification.
536.2 -- Heat, transmission.
E10 -- Glaciology: snow and avalanches.
