Record #125418:
Sea-ice growth in Ongul Strait, Antarctica / Toshiyuki Kawamura, Kay I. Ohshima, Syuki Ushio, Takatoshi Takizawa.
Title: | Sea-ice growth in Ongul Strait, Antarctica / Toshiyuki Kawamura, Kay I. Ohshima, Syuki Ushio, Takatoshi Takizawa. |
Author(s): | Kawamura, Toshiyuki. Ohshima, Kay I. Ushio, Syuki. Takizawa, Takatoshi. |
Date: | 1993. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1993.), Vol. 18 (1993) |
Abstract: | Two-year study, 1990-1991, was conducted on growth processes of sea ice in this region. Routine measurements of snow depth and ice thickness were made and sea-ice cores were collected to assess structure, temperature and salinity. Snow depth varied from 0 to 1 m. Sea ice increased in thickness in spring due to formation of snow-ice and by ice formation related to melting of snow cover. |
