Abstract: Field measurements on maximum runout from Coast Mountains in British Columbia and Rocky Mountains are presented and compared. Includes statistical analysis of topographic terrain parameters such as starting-zone catchment area, horizontal reach, vertical drop, and relevant slope angles. Two models of prediction are examined: least squares regression of topographic parameters and runout ratios fitted to Gumbel distribution.
