Development of cracks in S2 freshwater ice under constant strain rate loading / Wilfrid A. Nixon, Mir A. Wassif.

Title: Development of cracks in S2 freshwater ice under constant strain rate loading / Wilfrid A. Nixon, Mir A. Wassif.
Author(s): Nixon, Wilfrid A.
Wassif, Mir A.
Date: [1993]
Publisher: Edmonton, Alberta: University of Alberta, Department of Civil Engineering
In: IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol.2.
Abstract: Understanding how cracks develop is key to determining accurate and realistic constitutive models for deformation behaviour of ice. Presents preliminary results in which ice was loaded at 10⁻⁵ s⁻¹ at temperature of --5°C. Horizontal and vertical strains were recorded throughout tests and during unloading. After testing, samples were sectioned to obtain crack density and crystallography.
