| Abstract: | Based on experimental evidence of cross-slip of < 112̅3 > dislocations in ice crystals, plasticity of ice is discussed in terms of interaction between basal and non-basal dislocations. Crack-tip deformation in ice crystals is demonstrated by dislocation pile-ups in front of cleavage crack and dislocation-free zone caused by movement of existing dislocations in vicinity of crack tip of specimens subjected to creep. |
