Record #125388:

A preliminary investigation of the ductile--brittle transition in columnar S2 ice under compression / Rachel A. Batto, Erland M. Schulson.

Title: A preliminary investigation of the ductile--brittle transition in columnar S2 ice under compression / Rachel A. Batto, Erland M. Schulson.
Author(s): Batto, Rachel A.
Schulson, Erland M.
Date: [1993]
Publisher: Edmonton, Alberta: University of Alberta, Department of Civil Engineering
In: IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol.2.
Abstract: Tests were filmed in order to isolate point at which fresh-water columnar ice undergoes this transition and to determine causes. Special attention was paid to possible role of wing cracks. Artificial teflon cracks were made and subsequent wing crack growth under loading was examined.
Notes:
