Observations and numerical simulation of thermal and ice regimes in the Jing-Mi canal / Guifen Li, Shunan Lu, Xiaoqing Yang, Mikko Huokuna.

Title: Observations and numerical simulation of thermal and ice regimes in the Jing-Mi canal / Guifen Li, Shunan Lu, Xiaoqing Yang, Mikko Huokuna.
Author(s): Li, Guifen.
Lu, Shunan.
Yang, Xiaoqing.
Huokuna, Mikko.
Date: [1993]
Publisher: Edmonton, Alberta: University of Alberta, Department of Civil Engineering
In: IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol.2.
Abstract: Canal runs between Miyun reservoir and Beijing, passing through another reservoir and lake before joining Yongdinghe channel to enter Beijing. Total length of canal is 110 km and about 440 structures are situated on it. During winter 1989-90, field observations were carried out to collect data on weather conditions, water temperatures, ice regime and hydraulic parameters. Numerical hydro-thermodynamic model was used to simulate winter operations, and some options ensuring safe winter operation were recommended.
