Abstract: Using Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) data from Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS), relationship is examined between elevated CIO amounts and back trajectory minimum temperatures, restricting analysis to CIO amounts above 0.4 ppbv. (MLS) data supports notion that variation of CIO within Arctic Polar vortex following PSC encounter is due to reformation of CIONO₂ and is proportional to solar exposure.
