Simulation of ice cover melting under the influence of air and water conditions / Raafat G. Saadé, Semaan Sarraf, Gerald D. Holder.

Title: Simulation of ice cover melting under the influence of air and water conditions / Raafat G. Saadé, Semaan Sarraf, Gerald D. Holder.
Author(s): Saadé, Raafat G.
Sarraf, Semaan.
Holder, Gerald D.
Date: [1993]
Publisher: Edmonton, Alberta: University of Alberta, Department of Civil Engineering
In: IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol.1.
Abstract: In connection with winter operation of hydraulic structures, two-dimensional turbulence model coupled with ice-cover melting model was used to investigate influence of air and water temperature on melting characteristics of floating ice cover. Three test cases were considered, varying air and water temperatures. Results of model simulations are compared to laboratory experiments, and show that influence of water temperature is greater than that of air temperature.
