| Abstract: | Describes aim of study to evaluate relationship between New York Power Authority's Niagara Power Project's design for upgraded hydroelectric generating facilities, its operations, and formations of ice jams and stoppages in river. It is intended to assess impacts of ice on power generation losses and shoreline flooding and to evaluate possible measures for reducing frequency and severity of ice stoppages and jams. Focuses on concurrent use of physical and numerical models, supported by analyses of historical and field data. |
