Abstract: Although spring ice-jam flooding often occurs here, mid-winter ice jams are rare; however, one occurred in late December 1990. This event is described, as such winter jams have potential to cause severe jams during following spring. Measurements of thickness of ice jam was attempted successfully along 2 km of river, using ground penetrating radar mounted on toboggan.
