Experimental investigations of river ice cover cracking / A.K. Abdel-Zaher, Kersi S. Davar, J.L. Dawe, Spyros Beltaos.
Title: | Experimental investigations of river ice cover cracking / A.K. Abdel-Zaher, Kersi S. Davar, J.L. Dawe, Spyros Beltaos. |
Author(s): | Abdel-Zaher, A. K. Davar, Kersi S. Dawe, J. L. Beltaos, Spyros. |
Date: | [1993] |
Publisher: | Edmonton, Alberta: University of Alberta, Department of Civil Engineering |
In: | IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol.1. |
Abstract: | Reports experimental laboratory investigations and compares results with estimates obtained by numerical modelling. Investigations were conducted in specially built simulation tank. Two types of boundary conditions were imposed: hinged-fixed and fixed-symmetric, for different ice thicknesses. Results for cracking positions and deflections compared well with those obtained from FEM1 (finite element) model. |
