Record #125103:

Frazil and skim ice formation in rivers / Václav Matoušek.

Title: Frazil and skim ice formation in rivers / Václav Matoušek.
Author(s): Matoušek, Václav.
Date: [1993]
Publisher: Edmonton, Alberta: University of Alberta, Department of Civil Engineering
In: IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol.1.
Abstract: Presents theory of ice formation, based on laboratory tests and field observations. Describes thermal processes of water surface, derives relation for calculation of surface temperature, and determines temperature of surface at which primary ice particles begin to form. In addition, describes stochastic process of entrainment of primary ice particles from surface, and derives formulae for determination of limiting water velocities at which frazil slush run is started.
