Record #125082:
Ice breakup and jamming in the Restigouche River, New Brunswick / Spyros Beltaos, B.C. Burrell.
Title: | Ice breakup and jamming in the Restigouche River, New Brunswick / Spyros Beltaos, B.C. Burrell. |
Author(s): | Beltaos, Spyros. Burrell, B. C. |
Date: | [1993] |
Publisher: | Edmonton, Alberta: University of Alberta, Department of Civil Engineering |
In: | IAHR 92; 11th International Symposium on Ice, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 15-19, 1992. Proceedings. ([1993]), Vol.1. |
Abstract: | This medium-sized steep stream is subject to severe winters and single freezeup/breakup sequences each year. Thermal and mechanical breakups occur with equal frequency. Using past records and in situ observations, criterion has been formulated to forecast onset of mechanical events. Applications of numerical model to measured ice-jam profiles indicated good performance of theory and consistency of model coefficients. |
