Record #125057:

Texture and fabrics in the GRIP ice core: implication for ice deformation and the climatic record / T. Thorsteinsson, S. Kipfstuhl, H. Eicken.

Title: Texture and fabrics in the GRIP ice core: implication for ice deformation and the climatic record / T. Thorsteinsson, S. Kipfstuhl, H. Eicken.
Author(s): Thorsteinsson, T.
Kipfstuhl, S.
Eicken, H.
Date: 1993.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (1993.), Vol. 74(43, supplement) (1993)
Abstract: Abstract. Results from c-axis orientation measurements on 3029 m long Greenland Ice-core Project (GRIP) ice core from central Greenland show progressive downward strengthening of fabric from random to single maximum and confirm that vertical compression is main mode of deformation down to 2850 m. Below that, elongation of single maximum was observed, suggesting presence of longitudinal stress. Very large crystals are seen in lower 100 m.
