Record #125036:

Snow cover / James L. Foster, A.T.C. Chang.

Title: Snow cover / James L. Foster, A.T.C. Chang.
Author(s): Foster, James L.
Chang, A. T. C.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Cambridge: Cambridge University Press
In: Atlas of satellite observations related to global change. (1993.),
Abstract: Since 1966, continental snow cover has been monitored weekly using NOAA satellites in visible and near infrared wavelengths. Data relating to snow depth as well as snow extent have been obtained since 1978 by scanning multichannel microwave radiometer on board Nimbus 7 satellite; this instrument has capability of providing global estimates of snow depth and area by using algorithm derived from microwave radiometric observations of snow. Data availability: SMMR snow data set in digital form from Pilot Land Data System User Support Office, NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD 20771, USA.
Notes:

In: Atlas of satellite observations related to global change / Robert J. Gurney, James L. Foster, Claire L. Parkinson, eds.
