Notes on open-system pingo ice, Adventdalen, Spitsbergen / Kenji Yoshikawa.
Title: | Notes on open-system pingo ice, Adventdalen, Spitsbergen / Kenji Yoshikawa. |
Author(s): | Yoshikawa, Kenji. |
Date: | 1993. |
In: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1993.), Vol. 4(4) (1993) |
Abstract: | Describes ice structure and fabric of River Bed Pingo and Hutte Pingo, based on electrical resistivity. Profiles were constructed during summer and winter 1992, end of summer 1992, and end of winter 1993. Rates of discharge of water were measured and samples of water collected for chemical and isotope analysis. At River Bed Pingo, pingo ice was drilled vertically and horizontally. |
Notes: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. Vol. 4(4) :327-334 (1993). |
Keywords: | 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground. 551.343.72 -- Frost mounds. Pingos. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. (*32) -- Svalbard. (*324) -- Spitsbergen. |
