Finite element analysis of ice sheet indentation considering crushing and time-dependent deformations / Geir Horrigmoe, Ronald Andersen.
Title: | Finite element analysis of ice sheet indentation considering crushing and time-dependent deformations / Geir Horrigmoe, Ronald Andersen. |
Author(s): | Horrigmoe, Geir. Andersen, Ronald. |
Date: | 1993. |
Publisher: | Hamburg: Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA), Department for Ice and Environmental Technology |
In: | POAC 93 : the 12th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, 17.--20. August 1993, Hamburg. (1993.), Vol.2. |
Abstract: | Focuses attention on finite-element simulation of ice--structure interaction in ductile and ductile-to-brittle transition region. To simplify matter, problem of rigid indenter being moved against thin ice sheet is considered. Viscoplasticity provides constitutive framework which enables approximation of ice deformation over wide range of strain rates; model will also provide continuous response from low-speed viscous behaviour and well into ductile-to-brittle transition region at relatively high rates of straining. Viscoplastic models adopted here combine use of various yield functions with secondary creep deformation. |
