| Abstract: | Describes behavioural study of 14 captive polar bears observed over two year period starting September 1989. Bears were housed in seven different zoos throughout British Isles and 1,300 hours of data were collected using instantaneous sampling techniques at five minute intervals. Report concludes with list of 14 recommendations for creating environmental enrichment for captive Ursus maritimus. |
