Record #123954:

Production of icebergs and observed extreme drift speeds in the Barents Sea / Sveinung Løset, Torkild Carstens.

Title: Production of icebergs and observed extreme drift speeds in the Barents Sea / Sveinung Løset, Torkild Carstens.
Author(s): Løset, Sveinung.
Carstens, Torkild.
Date: 1993.
Publisher: Hamburg: Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA), Department for Ice and Environmental Technology
In: POAC 93 : the 12th International Conference on Port and Ocean Engineering under Arctic Conditions, 17.--20. August 1993, Hamburg. (1993.), Vol.1.
Abstract: Discusses especially extreme drift speeds of two icebergs which were tagged with satellite positioning buoys in 1987. Drift speeds exceeding 1 m s⁻¹ were often reported for short periods, with maximum speed of 1.38 m s⁻¹, and average speed of 1.13 m s⁻¹ during 31 h period with strong tail wind.
