Stalins politikk i Arktis / Vladimir Nikolayevich Bulatov.

Title: Stalins politikk i Arktis / Vladimir Nikolayevich Bulatov.
Translated title: Stalin's policy in the Arctic.
Author(s): Bulatov, Vladimir Nikolayevich.
Date: 1993.
Language: Norwegian and English.
In: Ottar. (1993.), Vol. 197(4) (1993)
Abstract: Rector of Pomor University at Archangel gives authoritative summary of Stalin's drive to create and support North-east Passage, with its ports, coal supply, ice-breakers and resulting development of mine-complexes, roads, planning teams and special techniques. Also tells of cost: heroes honoured, ships and scores of men lost, tens of thousands killed by exhaustion, cold or disease in labour and punishment camps (including, after purges of 1937, some of the pioneers); complex settlements built and sustained, environment destroyed, lakes and rivers polluted.
