Record #123637:
Seasonal variations in brightness temperature for central Antarctica / Cornelis J. Van der Veen, Kenneth C. Jezek.
Title: | Seasonal variations in brightness temperature for central Antarctica / Cornelis J. Van der Veen, Kenneth C. Jezek. |
Author(s): | Van der Veen, Cornelis J. Jezek, Kenneth C. |
Date: | 1993. |
In: | Annals of Glaciology. (1993.), Vol. 17 (1993) |
Abstract: | Radiative-transfer model developed by Zwally (1977) is modified and coupled to one-dimensional time-dependent temperature model in order to calculate seasonal variation in brightness temperature. By comparing this with observed records, radiative properties of firn can be determined. By retaining scattering as source term in radiative transfer function, agreement between model-derived scattering and absorption coefficients and those calculated from Mie/Rayleigh scattering theory can be obtained. Horizontal brightness temperature is not linked to vertical one through common power reflection coefficient. |
