Abstract: Otters are especially sensitive to changes in environment so it is good to know that they are still common in North. Article tells of many spoor that show presence of otters, with tips on recognising otter dung piles and paw marks. It describes attributes that enable otter to hunt in water and endure cold and wet and gives general results of survey on otter numbers and use of ground and concludes with remarks on breeding habits, diet and inroads on fish farms, (or not)
