Record #123367:

Deglaciation of the Younger Dryas or Loch Lomond stadial ice-field in the northern Highlands, Scotland / Matthew R. Bennett, Geoffrey S. Boulton.

Title: Deglaciation of the Younger Dryas or Loch Lomond stadial ice-field in the northern Highlands, Scotland / Matthew R. Bennett, Geoffrey S. Boulton.
Author(s): Bennett, Matthew R.
Boulton, Geoffrey S.
Date: 1993.
In: Journal of Quaternary Science : JQS. (1993.), Vol. 8(2) (1993)
Abstract: Summarizes increasing evidence which indicates that much Scottish "hummocky moraine" is assemblage of ice-marginal landforms deposited by actively decaying ice. Pattern of deglaciation can be established fairly precisely from pattern of linear ridges. This approach is applied to landforms of northern part of Loch Lomond stadial in order to reconstruct regional pattern of deglaciation. This leads to inferences about topographic control and provides insight into environment of British Isles at this time.
