Record #122993:

Variability in the Greenland Sea as revealed by a repeated high spatial resolution conductivity-temperature-depth survey / Gereon Budéus, Andreas-Alexander Maul, Gunther Krause.

Title: Variability in the Greenland Sea as revealed by a repeated high spatial resolution conductivity-temperature-depth survey / Gereon Budéus, Andreas-Alexander Maul, Gunther Krause.

In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1993.), Vol. 98(C6) (1993)
Abstract: Study of mesoscale variability of water masses in Greenland Sea and implications for bottom water formation. In 1989 and 1990 section in central Greenland Sea was sampled and in 1990 transect across Fram Strait was added, with spacing of 18 km throughout. Variability not only of frontier zones but of whole sea was found, with major change of deep-sea thermal structure within one year. Mechanism based on differential compressibility is proposed to introduce negative heat input into bottom layer, but plea is entered for more and faster readings to make sense of ever more complicated mechanisms.
