Ecological adaptations of aquatic macroinvertebrates to overwintering in interior Alaska (U.S.A.) subarctic streams / John G. Irons, III, L. Keith Miller, Mark W. Oswood.
Title: | Ecological adaptations of aquatic macroinvertebrates to overwintering in interior Alaska (U.S.A.) subarctic streams / John G. Irons, III, L. Keith Miller, Mark W. Oswood. |
Author(s): | Irons, John G., Miller, L. Keith. Oswood, Mark W. |
Date: | 1993. |
In: | Canadian Journal of Zoology. (1993.), Vol. 71(1) (1993) |
Abstract: | Reports field and laboratory experiments into differential survival of freezing conditions among invertebrates. Suggested that most Alaskan taxa do not possess ability to survive in habitats which freeze. Such taxa survive only by migrating away from freezing habitats or by remaining in habitats which do not freeze. |
Notes: | Canadian Journal of Zoology. Vol. 71(1) :98-108 (1993). |
