Record #122875:

High ice crystal production in winter cumuli over the Japan Sea / Tsutomu Takahashi.

Title: High ice crystal production in winter cumuli over the Japan Sea / Tsutomu Takahashi.
Author(s): Takahashi, Tsutomu.
Date: 1993.
In: Geophysical Research Letters. (1993.), Vol. 20(6) (1993)
Abstract: Aircraft observations during monsoon. Very high concentration of ice crystals of sizes ranging from 60 to 100 μm in diameter was measured on 17 February 1991. Large and small graupel were present, but no medium-sized graupel. Concludes that ice crystals were shattered by collision of large and small graupel, and ice crystals were ejected by this mechanism.
