Differences in the duration of snow cover on Scottish ski-slopes between mild and cold winters / S.J. Harrison.
Title: | Differences in the duration of snow cover on Scottish ski-slopes between mild and cold winters / S.J. Harrison. |
Author(s): | Harrison, S. J. |
Date: | 1993. |
In: | Scottish Geographical Magazine. (1993.), Vol. 109(1) (1993) |
Abstract: | Easterly continental and westerly marine snow-bearing air streams are associated with different types of snowfall and contrasting geographical distributions. Nature of these differences is examined, based on two winters, 1985-86 and 1988-89, which are representative of each type. Models are developed relating number of days with snow lying in Scotland to location variables of altitude, latitude and longitude. Relative differences in snow cover are estimated for two altitudes. |
Notes: | Scottish Geographical Magazine. Vol. 109(1) :37-44 (1993). |
