Record #122812:

A topological approach to the strain-rate pattern of ice sheets / John F. Nye.

Title: A topological approach to the strain-rate pattern of ice sheets / John F. Nye.
Author(s): Nye, John F.
Date: 1993.
In: Journal of Glaciology. (1993.), Vol. 39(131) (1993)
Abstract: Pattern of horizontal strain rate is discussed: in circularly symmetric ice sheet, isotropic point for strain rate at centre is degenerate and structurally unstable. On perturbation, degenerate point splits into two elementary isotropic points, each of which has lemon pattern for trajectories of principal strain rate. Contour maps of principal strain-rate values are presented which show details of splitting.
