Record #122794:

Danskundervisning i Grønland før den anden verdenskrig / Inge Kleivan.

Title: Danskundervisning i Grønland før den anden verdenskrig / Inge Kleivan.
Translated title: Teaching of Danish in Greenland before the Second World War.
Author(s): Kleivan, Inge.
Date: 1993.
Language: Danish.
In: Grønland. (1993.), Vol. 41(3) (1993)
Abstract: Article comments on that of K.G. Hansen in Grønland, 1993, 41(1). Conflicting desires to give Greenlanders both mastery of their original culture and contact with the wider world led to much discussion of role of Danish language in instruction. Educated Inuit themselves took opposite sides, as did Danes born in Greenland or long resident there. Ideally, teachers should be thoroughly bilingual.
