Record #122788:

Climatic adaptation of Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) in Finland based on male flowering phenology / Alpo Luomajoki.

Title: Climatic adaptation of Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) in Finland based on male flowering phenology / Alpo Luomajoki.
Author(s): Luomajoki, Alpo.
Date: 1993.
In: Acta Forestalia Fennica. (1993.), Vol. 237 (1993)
Abstract: Timing of anthesis in 21 Scots Pine stands from 14 localities in Finland was studied at canopy level from 1963-1974. Development was best measured in period units of heat sum system. Variation in timing of anthesis and of pollen catch with latitude was apparent, but correlations along simulated post-glacial migration routes were stronger than purely latitudinal correlations. Thus reinvasion of Scots Pine into Finland is still visible. Northern populations have still not fully adapted to climate.
