| Abstract: | Extensive digging of well known Stone Age site was hastened by plan to build gas terminal. 190 surface structures known, 180 of them house remains. Digging revealed large prehistoric dwelling places besides. 1991 dig was planned to fit Statoil's schedule, as Tromsø Museum has four seasons available on part of site. Article gives very detailed descriptions of season's results, besides geological research undertaken because of position of Slettnes in relation to centre of ice cap during Ice Age. |
