Abstract: Account of joint expedition of journalists from Japanese newspaper Hokkaido Shimbun and Sibirskaya Gazeta to Taymyr. Expedition was part of International Year of Indigenous Peoples. Describes visit to Nganasan family, comments on influence of "civilising" factors and notes problems such as alcoholism in indigenous villages. Suggests that only bodies financially able to assist indigenous people are big factories which are also biggest polluters. Mentions forest clear-cutting. First and second parts of story appeared in Sibirskaya Gazeta No.1 and 2, 1993.
