| Abstract: | Summarises recent studies on continental lacustrine oasis environments, especially of McMurdo Dry Valleys in southern Victoria Land, and particularly as these studies relate to factors regulating microbial ecology of dry valley lakes. Aspects considered include chemoclines, thermoclines, dissolved oxygen supersaturation, low light levels and benthic algal mats. Includes extensive references. |
