Record #122708:

Elevated consumption of carbon relative to nitrogen in the surface ocean / Raymond N. Sambrotto, and 9 others.

Title: Elevated consumption of carbon relative to nitrogen in the surface ocean / Raymond N. Sambrotto, and 9 others.
Author(s): Sambrotto, Raymond N.
Date: 1993.
In: Nature. (1993.), Vol. 363(6426) (1993)
Abstract: Presents time-series from both coastal waters and open-ocean sites demonstrating that net organic carbon production greatly exceeds that predicted from nitrate consumption. Results suggest that extrapolating from nitrate consumption using ratio proposed by Redfield leads to significant underestimates of organic carbon export from euphotic zone. Includes measurements from Bering Sea and Gerlache Strait.
