| Abstract: | Purpose was to test hypothesis that silicon is principal incipient limiting nutrient for ice algae at this location and to determine whether species occurring here accumulate lipid in response to nutrient limitation. Experiment was not to test whether Si was actually limiting in situ, but rather which nutrient would become limiting if any one of them did; hence "incipient" limiting nutrient. |
