Record #122582:

Glacigenic deposits of the Central Deep: a key to the Late Quaternary evolution of the eastern Barents Sea / Valery Gataullin, Leonid Polyak, Oleg Epstein, Boris Romanyuk.

Title: Glacigenic deposits of the Central Deep: a key to the Late Quaternary evolution of the eastern Barents Sea / Valery Gataullin, Leonid Polyak, Oleg Epstein, Boris Romanyuk.
Author(s): Gataullin, Valery.
Polyak, Leonid.
Epstein, Oleg.
Romanyuk, Boris.
Date: 1993.
In: Boreas. (1993.), Vol. 22(1) (1993)
Abstract: Seismo-acoustic and shallow drilling data indicate that Quaternary deposits in this area are mainly composed of glacigenic sediments, comprising basal till and proximal and distal glaciomarine sediments deposited during last glacial cycle. Apparant glaciotectonic features imply strong glacial erosion of Mesozoic bedrock. General ice movement is assumed to have been from off Novaya Zemlya. Concludes that entire eastern Barents Sea was covered by Late Weichselian ice sheet.
