Record #122577:

An approach to determine the origin and age of massive ice blockages in two Arctic caves / Bernard Lauriol, Ian D. Clark.

Title: An approach to determine the origin and age of massive ice blockages in two Arctic caves / Bernard Lauriol, Ian D. Clark.
Author(s): Lauriol, Bernard.
Clark, Ian D.
Date: 1993.
In: Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1993.), Vol. 4(1) (1993)
Abstract: Describes approach used to determine age and origin of massive ice formations blocking caves in northern Yukon, based on stable isotopes, radiocarbon and ice fabric analyses. Ice is shown to form by gradual accumulation of floor ice from below, and accretion of hexagonal ice growing down from cave roof.
