Record #122417:

Origin and stratigraphy of Pleistocene gravels in Dawson Range and suggestions for future exploration of gold placers, southwestern Carracks map area, Yukon Territory / Lionel E. Jackson, Jr.

Title: Origin and stratigraphy of Pleistocene gravels in Dawson Range and suggestions for future exploration of gold placers, southwestern Carracks map area, Yukon Territory / Lionel E. Jackson, Jr.
Author(s): Jackson, Lionel E.,
Date: 1993.
In: Geological Survey of Canada. Paper. (1993.), Vol. 93-1A (1993)
Abstract: Placers occur here due to lack of glaciation for over 1 Ma and presence of Late Cretaceous granites and subvolcanic Mount Nansen Group. Quaternary context is discussed: four glaciations are recognized (Nansen, Kaza, Reid and McConnell (youngest)). Placers were created during stream degradation following pre-Reid glaciations. Signiicant aggradation occurred along streams as result of Reid glaciation; subsequent McConnell glaciation had little effect, by comparison.
