Abstract: | Field work in 1992 leads to interpretation of deglacial history: (1) glacial Lake Hind developed as ice-marginal lake impounded by ice to north and east and by topography to south and west; (2) at one time, ice margin stood along modern Assiniboine River; (3) large volumes of meltwater flowed into lake through channels and ice tunnels; (4) lake was drained after excavation of Assiniboine channel, through Brandon, to Lake Agassiz. |
