Title: | Quaternary environments / Martin A.J. Williams, David L. Dunkerley, Patrick De Deckker, A. Peter Kershaw, Tonia J. Stokes. |
Author(s): | Williams, Martin A. J. Dunkerley, David L. De Deckker, Patrick. Kershaw, A. Peter. Stokes, Tonia J. |
Date: | 1993. |
Publisher: | London: Edward Arnold |
Abstract: | For second- and third-year undergraduates. Aims are to examine global environmental fluctuations of last 2 million years; to analyze evidence used in reconstructing Quaternary environments; and to consider ways in which living organisms have responded to environmental changes. After introduction, chapters deal with prelude to Quaternary; Quaternary glaciations; Quaternary sea-level changes; evidence from oceans; rivers, lakes and groundwater; evidence from deserts; evidence from terrestrial flora and fauna; human origins, innovations and migrations; atmospheric circulation during Quaternary; and environmental changes: past, present and future. Appendix on Quaternary dating methods. |
