Record #122275:

Seismic characteristics of an airgun fired over snow / Edward C. King, E.P. Jarvis, E.A. Mowse.

Title: Seismic characteristics of an airgun fired over snow / Edward C. King, E.P. Jarvis, E.A. Mowse.
Author(s): King, Edward C.
Jarvis, E. P.
Mowse, E. A.
Date: 1993.
In: Cold Regions Science and Technology. (1993.), Vol. 21(2) (1993)
Abstract: Describes experiments carried out near Rothera station, Antarctica, which prove that airgun fired above snow surface is satisfactory alternative to explosive sources for some seismic field work. One potential use is for rapid profiling of ice thickness and seabed depth on ice shelves.
