Record #122216:

A reexamination of the polar halocline catastrophe and implications for coupled ocean-atmosphere modeling / Sheng Zang, Richard J. Greatbatch, Charles A. Lin.

Title: A reexamination of the polar halocline catastrophe and implications for coupled ocean-atmosphere modeling / Sheng Zang, Richard J. Greatbatch, Charles A. Lin.
Author(s): Zang, Sheng.
Greatbatch, Richard J.
Lin, Charles A.
Date: 1993.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (1993.), Vol. 23(2) (1993)
Abstract: Modeling study reexamining physical mechanism of polar halocline catastrophe which emphasizes role played by surface heat flux. Argues that in coupled ocean-atmosphere system, thermal changes in atmospheric state respond to changes in heat flux from ocean and that this weakens feedback responsible for polar halocline catastrophe.
